Pat Curren Surfboards Guns T-Shirt
On November 5th 1957, Pat Curren was among the first group of guys to successfully paddle out and surf Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Hawaii. Along with him was Greg Noll, Mickey Munoz, Bing Copeland, Del Cannon, Mike Stange, and Bob Bermell. That was a brave moment that proved to the surfing world that Waimea Bay could be surfed. This also launched a new era of board design, called the Big Gun.
By 1960 Pat was considered the best of the best with building a Big Gun. His beautiful boards had proven to be able to handle the challenge of riding a huge wave, and surviving. His skills in the water matched that of his board building. Legend Peter Cole claimed Pat to be the first "King of Waimea."
This logo is the one most associated with Pat's beautiful big gun surfboards. The design was created alongside his friend Renny Yater and his Santa Barbara Surf Shop logo, during Pats time living and building boards in Santa Barbara.
